Looking For Property in Australia?

I was randomly looking through the property listings in the Gold Coast area in Australia. This amazing home is located in the Helensvale suburb. Unfortunately for you all, its already been sold. Take a look at what you missed out on.

Lighting and Latin Concepts

Last week some friends and I went to Mate, in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, for some of their Latin sushi. Maybe its because we ate off of the half-priced happy hour menu that the sushi was just, eh, and that the Latin part of it completely flew over my head. The mango mojitos, however, were delectable. Definitely worth stopping by during happy hour to have a go at one of these for half price.

Once again, however, it was the lighting and decor that caught my eye.

The restaurant had these swanky Panton spiral lamps, and a cool colorful egg-like chandelier that looks much more engaging in person. Take a look...

...And they even had swanky chairs to match.

Latin Concepts (through Chief Creator and Chief Executive, Mauici Fraga-Rosenfeld) is responsible for Mate in addition to several other restaurants: Ceviche, Chi Cha, Gazuza, Guarapo, Nena and Yaku.

Personally tried: Chi Cha Lounge is a U Street staple with comfortable lounging and savory tapas; Ceviche is in Silver Spring, MD and has good food and great margaritas- the portions aren't huge, but they almost make up for this in flavor; Guarapo in Arlington, VA has great live Latin music with delicious Latin food to match; and Gazuza will be my next venture.

Hasta luego!

Happy Weekend!

Wishing you peace and harmony for your weekend...

Summer Cocktail: Freso Fresca

Ugh, summer is quickly running past us- better catch it while you can! Hold on to it with this interesting cocktail. It caught my eye because I love both black pepper and basil in drinks, but never tried it together. Try the unexpected...

Freso Fresca

1 and 1/2 oz Patron Silver
2-3 strawberries
4 basil leaves
1/2 oz agave nectar
1/3 oz lime juice
1/3 oz lemon juice
black pepper

Muddle the strawberries, agave nectar, basil and citrus; add tequila and ice and shake vigorously; strain contents into a chilled cocktail glass and sprinkle pepper.

Enjoy!

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

I know, another post about Home Goods. But I needed a tablecloth. Well, I didn't NEED it, but I desired it tremendously! And where else would I go?

I have all these thoughts in my head for certain decor ideas and I have to play them out.

Right now I'm thinking pure white, square plates. I haven't found the exact ones I want yet, but I will :) Plus, I found lovely white serving dishes at CB2. The plan is coming into play nicely!

So if I get the plates, I have to accompany them with the perfect tablecloth, right? Just say "right".

Before I reveal the accoutrement to my future plates, here are some Home Goods finds I want to share... Get used to it!

Cool table napkins

I love this tablecloth

Table napkin with matching tablecloth. I don't like the idea of matchy-matchy, but it would be cool to mix and match them.

A tablecloth for a contemporary look.

The colors in this picture would awaken any dull room.

More cool stuff!

And now for the big reveal...

It may not look like much now, but with the white plates, and all the dramatics I plan to put around them (candles, flowers, etc.), it will look fabulous! And for $16 bucks, I'll make it work. This tablecloth reminds me of this pillow. As I have said before, I love the idea of a traditional touch surrounded by contemporary pairings. I'm a contempo gal, but I like to switch it up.
