The Art of Green

Jack Byrnes: I'm just curious, did you pick the color of the car?
Greg Focker: Uh no, the guy at the window did, why?
Jack Byrnes: Well they say geniuses pick green.
Greg Focker: Oh.
Jack Byrnes: But you didn't pick it.

- From the motion picture Meet The Parents (2000)

According to about.com, the color green represents nature, tranquility, good luck, health, and jealousy. It can also improve reading ability and is apparently a symbol of fertility. Most notably is relieves stress and gives a calming effect.

Green is a great color to use in any room. However, I don't really think I would like green as a paint color in my bedroom; although it seems to be associated with all the attributes you may want in a bedroom. If I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen anyone I know use it as a paint color in their bedroom. I wonder why that is? The below pics, however, may work to persuade me. The color green, however, exists in some form in almost any home.

Many paint colors with a green tint to them somehow work to give a contemporary effect (check out Tavern Taupe by Sherwin Williams and Indian Rhubarb by Benjamin Moore). Always remember, colors exist outside its purest form. Play around a bit with different shades and tones. You can find a shade you like with almost any color.
